The Hope, Peckham
The new building features residential units above, while the ground floor retains the façade of the public house in a contemporary ‘shop front’ style that aligns with the traditional shop fronts in the area. The entrance to the upper floors seamlessly blends into the street façade, adhering to the local architectural style.
The design of the building takes inspiration from traditional fronts, incorporating depth and tapering to create a unique aesthetic. This tapering is emphasised to form the main entrance of the public house, creating a visual contrast with the surrounding high street buildings and clearly marking the entrance.
Known as “The Hope”, this establishment serves as both a pub and pop-up restaurant. The design of the interior reflects a contemporary style that aligns with local trends, achieved with a limited budget by utilising recycled and vintage furniture, among other elements. Due to the pandemic, the venue was temporarily closed and has since been sold by different owners.
