Cottenham, Cambridgshire

This project delivers a new two-story detached home within the large garden of an existing semi-detached house in Cottenham. The site layout provides both homes with private gardens and parking while replacing old, disused outbuildings.

Set within the village development boundary but outside the Conservation Area and flood zones, the site is surrounded by farmland, residential properties, and allotments, with a pedestrian and cycle route running along its northern edge.

The original cottage, built around 1910, is one of four former workers’ cottages in cream brick with slate roofs. Over time, many nearby homes have been extended, reflecting the area’s evolving character. S16 successfully obtained planning permission for this traditionally designed countryside home in Cambridgeshire’s green-belt.
